Burns, the son of Calhoun State Community College head coach Mike Burns, is a polished righthander with a starter's low effort delivery and arsenal of pitches. His 92-95 mph fastball has very good downhill plane for a 6-footer and his best pitch is a hard curveball that reaches the low-80s with hard 11-to-5 shape. Burns also throws a credible changeup for a high school pitcher. He bears a strong resemblance in build and raw stuff to 2013 Perfect Game All-American and 2014 Los Angeles Dodgers first-round pick Grant Holmes.
