The raw velocity certainly stands out with DeMers, as he worked at 91-95 mph at the PG National in June, but it has been the hitters’ reactions to the movement on that fastball that has jumped out to scouts. The big righthander throws a heavy ball with late downward action, which consistently induces weak ground ball contact. He also shows a good feel for a sharp, late-biting breaking ball and an 82-84 mph changeup. DeMers has been a well known commodity and has pitched on big stages since a young age, and that polish shows in his command.
