Zach Ortiz is a 2023 3B/RHP/OF with a 6-0 172 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Foothills Christian. Medium build with the beginnings of some present strength. Right handed hitter, hits from an open stance and tends to stay open in his shift forward, high back elblow start, short rotational swing, handles the barrel well and makes consistent contact, hits to all fields. 7.89 runner in the sixty. Primary third baseman on defense, has good hands to both sides and fields the ball cleanly with good lower half balance, compact arm action with developing carry on his throws. Also took a turn on the mound, works from the stretch with a short crossfire stride out front, long arm takeaway in back, extended 3/4's arm slot. Threw all fastballs during his outings, topping out at 73 mph, was around the strike zone consistently and showed nice cutting action at times on the pitch. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
