2023 Florida Prospect Showcase
Ryan Whitaker is a 2024 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from St Augustine, FL who attends Beachside High School. Athletic build with some present strength and room for more. Works from a high leg raise delivery, lands slightly closed out front with some crossfire angle to the plate, has good rhythm to his mechanics and a clean medium length arm action from a high 3/4's arm slot, has some energy at release. Fastball worked up to 84 mph, mostly straight with occasional running life, maintained his velocity well. Slider flashed nice sharp biting life, was not consistent on his release on this pitch. 7.45 runner in the sixty, played outfield when not on the mound. Left handed hitter, has a rotational swing, turns his hips well, gets the barrel out front occasionally with some extension and turned the barrel. Good student, verbal commitment to St. Johns River CC. Named to the Florida Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.

Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
