Tayshaun Scott is a 2025 C/3B with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Hickory, NC who attends Hickory. Thick, well developed frame with the classic catcher's type build. Primary position C, starting with a square stance a bit high in his legs. Emerging overall consistency in mechanics but when synched up showed very well. Glove work was on point, especially in live AB situations, presenting pitches nicely. Gains ground on throws and put the ball on the bag towards the end of reps. Throws up to 71 mph with a pop time best 2.18 seconds. All the components are there and will be more refined with time. All actions behind the plate played way up in game situations. Called a great game, stole a bunch of strikes and blocked everything even with weather forcing the showcase indoors. Secondary IF, working through the ball well and making good reads on angles. Secures ball and moves with some lateral range. Follows his throws that reached 76 mph here and handled the slow roller well. RHH with an even stance in his legs and longer takeaway with his hands. Bigger leg lift to activate lower-half and natural loft to his bat path. When on time he created loud contact and most consistent when in the middle of the field. Plenty strong. Offensive catcher profile longterm and a tremendous student as well.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
