Karson Smith is a 2027 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-3 165 lb. frame from Frisco, TX who attends Heritage. Primary LHP with a wiry frame and long limbs. Should continue to add strength. Throws from a low 3/4 slot from a crossfire release throwing across his body from a whippy arm. Works inline well but could tap into his lower half more. A lot to tap into here with more velo in the tank. Fastball worked up to 75 with some life and filled up the zone. Missed barrels consistently and pitched to weak contact. Threw in a curve in all counts and could work ahead with it. Curve showed healthy 1-7 shape with depth and could land it at will. Was not afraid to throw the curve in all counts and tunneled it well off his fastball. Has a good idea on sequencing. Should continue to get better off the bump projecting well. Also played first moving well around the bag. Hops off the bag athletically and made solid turns to second from a clean slot. Moved well to and around the ball fielding it cleanly. Good size for the position and should stick there. Was accurate with his throws with clean arm action. Also ran a 7.45 sixty. Left-handed hitter with a narrow upright base starting slightly open. Medium sized leg lift rock back into stride for timing and rhythm. Clears hips well with bat speed and showed good feel for the barrel overall from a smooth lefty swing. Was on the barrel a bunch during his round of BP. Good Student.
