2022 Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase (Saturday)
Tj Boccella is a 2024 OF/RHP with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Collegeville, PA who attends Pope John Paul II. Recorded a 7.58 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, broad shouldered frame with tons of projection and room to add strength. Primary outfielder with anticipatory actions into the fielding process, a clean funnel off to the side and clean gather into transition. Carried some momentum into release, while producing online, accurate throws up to 75 mph during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with slightly coiled leg lift and good lower half movements down the slope. Creates some deception with slight cross-fire landing that produces some natural arm-side run. Fastball worked in the low-70s for the majority of his outing and topped out at 74 mph from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Showed developing command of the strike zone that will improve with minor refinements mechanically. Mixed in slower 12-6 curveball that flashed some gradual depth and showed best when thrown with conviction. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even based stance with an exaggerated high hand set, high back elbow and toe-tap trigger. Incorporates wrapped hand load to get his swing going, while using rotational lower half mechanics to create some torque. Displayed simple line drive swing path with fairly consistent bat-to-ball skills and occasional impact to the pullside. Will continue to improve with minor swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
