Matt Steele is a 2022 OF/LHP with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Carlsbad, CA who attends Sage Creek. Athletic build with lots of physical projectability remaining. Very good runner, 6.67 runner in the sixty. Has athletic actions in the outfield and comes to the ball well, long and loose arm strokes with some carry on his throws, speed will be an asset defensively. Left handed hitter,. hits from an straight stance with a high hand load, has some bat speed with good extension out front when pulling, aggressive swing, has good raw power with more to come. Also pitched, shorter arm stroke on the mound than in the OF, clean takeaway and release, high 3/4's arm slot, some energy at release. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, mostly straight. Curveball was a nice pitch with 1/7 shape and hard biting action at times, got some bad swings on his curveball. Two-way prospect. Excellent student. Named to the Southern California Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
