2023 Jr. National Showcase
John Austin Wood is a 2025 C/UT with a 6-4 193 lb. frame from Fulton, MS who attends Itawamba Agricultural. Long and lean build, especially for a catcher, has plenty of room to get stronger. 7.13 runner in the sixty. Stands straight up to throw, developing footwork and lower half actions on his throws, throws from a lower arm slot, has a chance to out grow the position. Right handed hitter, hits from a narrow straight stance with a good shift into contact, gets nice separation in his swing and projects lots of power, hits relaxed, will be interesting to watch how his already solid bat speed develops as he adds strength. Excellent student, verbal commitment to TCU.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
