2020 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
John Ahler is a 2022 2B/SS with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Algonquin, IL who attends Marian Central Catholic. Medium frame with a lean build showing some fast twitch muscle in the frame. Ran a 7. 32 second sixty yard dash. Primary Second Baseman, proved to have good first step instincts as he showed lateral range as well. Clean gather out front and then was quick with transfers and release. Accurate across the diamond from multiple slots as he threw it 87 mph during drills. Feel for the position and projects well at the position. Right-Handed Hitter, starting even and in line before working into a shorter stride. Does a good job staying short and compact to the baseball as he utilizes a linear swing path. Found the barrel consistently as the swing is fundamentally sound. Will make another jump with a physical strength gain. Outstanding Student.
