Austin Reed is a 2025 C/RHP/OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Sugar Land, TX who attends St. Francis Episcopal. Primary C with an athletic frame. Sets up in the side saddle and gains some ground through the plate. Was up to 75 from behind the dish. Also played outfield working up to 85 from there with good carry and strength behind his throws. Fields it off to his side with a one hand gather and gets through it a good bit from a low slot release. Also pitched throwing from a high 3/4 slot and lands inline well while rotating around the front side. Gets good drive off the slope and was up to 81 with his fastball. Went to a short breaking ball with slurvy shape and could locate it. Right-handed hitter with an even and balanced base. Dips down into his lower half on the weight transfer with a small leg raise and stride into contact. Showed good feel for the barrel overall during his round of BP and blistered a double into the opposite field gap in game action showing good ability to stay inside the ball with impact. Swing gets on plane and stays level well with bat speed. Good impact strength off the barrel. Good Student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
