John Lopez is a 2023 C/MIF/OF with a 5-8 165 lb. frame from Salinas, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Recorded a 6.79 second 60-yard dash time. Shorter build with lots of physicality and athleticism throughout. Primary catcher with compact actions and excellent lower half quickness. Solid arm strength and has good receiving and blocking skills; recorded a best pop time of 1.83 seconds. Arm strength plays from secondary position of infield up to 92 mph. Right-handed hitter with a middle approach and a quick, compact bat path. Direct to the ball with fast hands and heaviness throughout. Uses the whole field well on a line and showed some power to the pull side as well. Great student. Verbal commitment to Bethune-Cookman.
