Elijah Young is a 2023 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-2 183 lb. frame from West Point, MS who attends West Point. Long athletic build with some present strength and room for plenty more. Full hands over head pitching mechanics, has a good lower half down the mound to the plate, arm action is long and loose from an extended 3/4's arm slot, still learning to develop timing consistency between his arm and lower half. Worked mostly in the mid-70's with his fastball, topped out at 78 mph, mostly straight, improving his ability to throw strikes with his fastball will be the key to his development, has been up to 81 mph in the past at PG events. Threw both a curveball and a slider, curveball was best when thrown the hardest, got some 12/6 shape. Hand position slider can be thrown more, showed some feel for it. Slowed significantly on his change up. 7.05 runner in the sixty. Showed pretty nice athletic actions in the outfield on defense, throws had good carry from a loose and clean arm action, fielded the ball cleanly out front. Left handed hitter, hits from an exaggerated open narrow stance, big hand drop load, takes a big swing and has some raw power when he's squared up.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
