Jose Taveras is a 2026 C/RHP/1B with a 5-10 195 lb. frame from Clermont, FL who attends Foundation Academy. A bigger frame and build with some strength throughout. Shows some physicality as well. Room to keep improving the frame further. Ran a 7.63 60-yard dash. Primary catcher who worked out behind the dish with a lower setup and good arm action working out of the crouch. He was able to get a good carry on his throws at 78 mph with quickness to get to release and gain some ground. He was quick with the exchange, helping produce a 1.95 pop time. Also worked out on the infield with good hands and a patient approach to the ball. He threw from a higher three-quarters arm slot with throws at 84 mph across the diamond. Good arm strength showed. He took BP as a right-handed hitter with a spread base and a wider setup. He was able to turn over the barrel and impact with the strength in the frame. He produced low line drives all over the field with some feel to connect and stay loose. It was a simple and fluid stroke with consistent line-drive barrels that made for a good round of BP. Produced an 84 mph exit velocity during DK Testing. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher who had a sidestep delivery with a knee-to-belt leg lift. He lands on-line with the plate with good extension working downhill and was able to control all of his pitches. He showed above-average arm speed with some speed through release, working 82-85 mph on the fastball, reaching back to grab 87 mph. He showed a feel to live in the zone with the pitch and get some arm-side life. He showed an upper-60s curveball with a 12-6 shape and depth to it. Showed a changeup at 70 mph with a limited fade to it. Also showed a knuckleball at 69 mph that had real shape and good depth to it. Good student. Named to the National Underclass Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
