Matthew Escalera is a 2023 C/IF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Santa Clarita, CA who attends Saugus. Recorded a 8.18 second sixty yard dash time. Primary catcher with a solid frame and a high and side straddle set up. Gets his body turned early, tends to stand up to throw. Developing foot and hand quickness, will improve as he stays low throughout the process. Recorded a 2.43 second pop time at 63 mph. Right-handed hitter with an extremely low hand set and a causal and upright set up. Short and soft swing with low intent, looks to pull the ball. Big stride forward, gets over his front side often, limited lower half drive at present. Developing strength in the swing but has the frame to add it, will improve impact potential has he swings with higher intent. Great student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
