Emilio Duque is a 2021 LHP/1B with a 5-11 220 lb. frame from Pharr, TX who attends PSJA Southwest. Large physical build with room to still strengthen as he continues to develop. Primary pitcher, has a longer arm circle in the back that fires through to a three-quarters slot. Simple and repeatable mechanics, fastball up to 84 mph, throws a lot of strikes and lives in the lower half of the zone. True three-pitch mix, 11-to-5 shaped breaking ball with good depth. Also throws a 74 mph straight change with a developing arm action on the pitch. Mostly pitches with his fastball. At first base, comprehends his footwork off of the bag well, fields out in front cleanly. Solid gather, shows an ability to throw from multiple slots even while on the move. At the plate, has an even and upright stance with a simple stride trigger. Hands work direct to the baseball. Middle of the field approach.
