Maurice Maiquez is a 2024 C/RHP, 3B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Miami Gardens, FL who attends City Of Hialeah Education Academy. Large frame with athleticism and strength present. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. Primary catcher who had a quick transfer parallel with the chest, making strong throws down to second. Produced a 1.93 pop time, getting throws to the right of the bag with short arm-action and quick catch-and-throw. Right-handed hitter with a narrow base, getting through the ball well, using the strength in his frame to help him produce juice to both sides. Lifts the ball and keeps the strength in the barrel through the zone for an excellent round of BP overall. Right-handed pitcher who worked from a high-three-quarters arm slot. Worked his fastball up to 84 mph with ride and was able to command the pitch well to both sides of the plate. He mixed in a 12-6 breaking ball in the low- to mid-60s that had good depth to it. His third offering was a changeup in the low-70s that he killed the spin on and was able to generate arm-side fade on the pitch. He threw the changeup to both lefties and righties. He mixed his pitches well, and set himself up for success. Elevated late in counts for swings and misses as well. Excellent student.
