Acton Smith is a 2023 OF/LHP, 1B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Woodstock, GA who attends Sequoyah. Features a long, lanky build with some strength in the lower half. Has athleticism. Showed intriguing stuff on the mound. Utilizes a tall and fall delivery with a short stride down the mound. An overhead arm slot with short arm action on the backside hides the ball well. Maintaining balance throughout is key to repeating delivery consistently. The fastball sat 80-84 mph with life through the zone. Generates short armside run at the bottom of the zone. The curveball sat in the mid-60’s with 12-6 action. Still refining command of both offerings. Intriguing pitching foundation with plenty of deception and room to develop. Arm strength translated during outfield workouts. Produced solid carry when on in sync. Reached 88 mph in drills. Charges the ball well. Fields out front. Will stop feet at catch point before gaining ground into throws occasionally. Left-handed hitter. Utilizes a square stance with a wide base and high back elbow. Minimal movement pre-pitch. Uses the entire field. Flashed the ability to find barrels to the pullside. More lower half incorporation would help strength play in the box more regularly. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Very good student. Named to 2021 National Underclass Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
