Broedy Poppell is a 2021 C/MIF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Tallahassee, FL who attends Maclay HS. Large frame with square shoulders and room to add strength. Ran a 7.50 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Strong actions when working through transitions. Soft hands while receiving and catches into transfers. Gets the ball out with quick feet. Accurate throws topping out at 76 miles per hour and popping a 2.00. Also worked out from the infield. Short strides to the ball with quick footwork through transfers. Gets the ball out with a clean release at 72 miles per hour. Switch hitter working from a wide base to start on both sides. Has strength in hands through a line drive swing path. Stays short to the ball and looks to drive the ball from gap to gap. Can generate some occasional jump off the barrel when squared up. Excellent student as well.
