2021 National Underclass East Showcase
Nick Taylor is a 2023 2B/SS with a 5-8 130 lb. frame from Newberry, FL who attends F. W. Buchholz. Recorded a 7.09 second sixty-yard dash time. Small, slender build with plenty of time and room to fill out. Primary middle-infielder with developing defensive skill set, while exhibiting quick footwork to range well to either side and funnel cleanly out in front. Shows present athleticism with low effort and ability to throw accurately from multiple arm angles. Secondary right-handed pitcher that works from a controlled delivery, repeating well from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball worked in the upper-60s for the most part, topping out at 71 mph in this look with short sinking life to it. Mixed in developing curveball that varies in shape and will improve with further arm speed as he matures. Right-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and small hover trigger. Incorporates simple hand load for timing, working inside with hands to produce a slightly elongated swing path. Mostly pull-side impact with early extension out in front and developing feel for the barrel. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
