Drew Yazzie is a 2017 SS/2B/3B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Farmington, NM who attends Piedra Vista High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.58 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, stayed low through the ball with an athletic bend. Showed clean glove actions with raw arm strength. Moved well up the middle with good balance and accuracy on the move. At the plate, started with a wide base high hand set, high back elbow, deep weight shift, and a simple leg lift timing mechanism. Uses lower half to create leverage into contact. Showed ability to drive the ball with strength. Line drive swing plane with an up the middle approach and got to all fields. Good student.
