Justin Nevells is a 2020 SS/2B with a 5-7 130 lb. frame from Anchorage, AK who attends Chugiak HS. Medium frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Ran a 7.38 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with fluid, aggressive footwork while closing to and surrounding the baseball. Showed good range to each side with the ability to alter glove actions. Primarily funneled the baseball out front and worked through exchange with fluidity. Primarily released from a three-quarters slot but flashed the ability to change arm angle while on the run as well. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple toe tap trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to contact and produced a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed good feel for the barrel and consistently worked to the middle of the field between the gaps. Also pitched showing a large side step to high leg lift delivery. Stall tall on back side at balance and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Shorter arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball created occasional downhill tilt through the zone topping at 72 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and solid depth when staying on top of offering. Excellent student as well.
