Felix Taveras is a 2017 C with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Mater Academy Lakes HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders, mature build with present strength proportioned throughout frame. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, begins with a lower set behind the plate, side step out of crouch to gain ground, remains low through actions well, projects with better directionality to his lower half, compact arm action with a tight release from ear, gets on top of throws and shows carry. Lefthanded hitter, busy hands at start of swing but shows fluidity and a short path to the ball. Showed quick hands in game and created consistent contact to the pull side, looks to leverage the ball at point of contact and shows lift when on time with leg lift trigger.
