Gunner Bankston is a 2019 RHP/SS with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Dewey, OK who attends Dewey. Medium frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Medium arm circle back at separation and released from a near over top arm slot. Works over front side well at release generating solid downhill angle with heavy actions through the zone in the low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 to near 12/6 shape with good spin and solid depth. Showed the feel and willingness to double up with curveball offering to keep hitters off balance. Consistently filled the zone with both pitches and held velocity well through each inning of work. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing solid range to each side with developing fluidity while funneling. Very quick exchanges and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced accurate carry to the bag topping at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and large leg lift trigger. Stays on back side throughout swing with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with a level swing plane through extension. Primarily works to the middle of the field and opposite field gaps while swinging with intent to drive the baseball. Very good student. Named to the 2017 Rocky Mountain Showcase Top Prospect List.
