2018 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Trip Wilson is a 2020 OF/RHP/SS with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Belden, MS who attends Tupelo HS. Large frame with long limbs and a strong, athletic build. Primary outfield with fluid, sound footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels baseball cleanly and worked through exchange with fluidity. Displayed very good arm strength and created stiff on line carry to the bag topping at 92 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and toe tap trigger. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Fluid, direct hand path to contact with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Generated present bat speed through the zone with good strength at contact. Consistently drove the baseball with authority to all fields. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and works to the plate with tall and fall actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball jumped out of hand creating heavy run to arm side in the mid to upper 80's, topped at 88 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and late, hard depth in the mid 70's. Also flashed a changeup offering in the upper 70's. Aggressively attacked the strike zone and challenged hitters with each offering. Named to the 2018 National Underclass Main Event Showcase, Top Prospect List.
