Daniel Quintanilla is a 2016 LHP/1B with a 5-11 210 lb. frame from Garland, TX who attends Garland HS. Has a large frame and big strong build with clear sign of present strength. On the mound, throws from a 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action. Smooth delivery that generates good plane on the ball. Has good direction to the plate and stays online with delivery. Fastball has arm side run and gets on hitters with his ability to hide the baseball. Changeup has some late fading action down in the zone. Curveball has 3/8 shape with big break. Challenges hitters down in the strike zone and forces contact early in the count, lots of ground balls and missed barrels. From the infield, solid movements with good defensive instincts. Quick clean transfers with easy arm action on throws with solid arm strength. At the plate, left-handed hitter that starts with a wide base and high hand set. Swing plane generates lift at the point of contact with clear strength when barreled. Showed solid extension through contact and some raw pull side power, hard contact to the right center field gap. Good student.
