Jack Mercer is a 2014 SS/RHP/3B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Strake Jesuit College Prep. Strong athletic frame, room to get stronger. 7.27 runner, has quick feet, gets in position to throw, tends to throw uphill, third base tools and profile. Right handed hitter, short rotational swing, swings hard, tends to cut off swing out front, has strength to hit but will need to make adjustments. Also pitched, works from the stretch, simple rotational delivery, effort at release, compact 3/4's arm action. Fastball topped at 81 mph with good sinking action, showed solid spin and bite to slider. Very good student.
