2022 South Uncommitted Showcase (2023 Grads)
Matthew Torres is a 2023 C/RHP/3B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Dobie. Stronger medium size frame. Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. Primary catcher some quicker feet, gains ground well, clean transition to throw and showed average arm strength with accuracy. In the infield showed corner type actions, with footwork to a low fielding position, quicker lateral reactions and above average arm strength across the diamond. Hit from an open stance, did a nice job of getting on time consistently, limited connectivity to backside rotation but a clean compact swing through the zone with some strength, hand speed and feel for the barrel. Modified windup on the mound with a compact delivery and over the top arm slot. Synced up delivery with legs and arm action leading to advanced command of an upper 70's fastball with cutting action. Threw a slider with some biting action in the mid 60's. Competed and got quick outs on the mound. Very good student.
