Sam Smith is a 2028 OF/LHP/1B with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Portland, OR who attends Central Catholic. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 6.94 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves in rhythm on approach, direct to the bal and athleticism plays, medium length to arm stroke, shows present arm strength and accuracy to the intended base. Also worked out at first base, plays low to the ball, clean arm stroke and shows accuracy, sound footwork away from the bag with balance in actions. Hip high leg lift on the mound at start, compact arm action working to a three-quarters release. Lands slightly closed and creates some deception, fastball topped out at 82 mph with natural running life and filled up the zone. Quality changeup at 71 mph plenty of depth and life, able to miss bats and sell it well. Left-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and slightly open stance, high back elbow in the box with tight hands. Plenty of quickness in hands, contact oriented approach with ability to unlock contact to all fields. Works on a linear path, projects with added physical strength, creates some separation out front.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
