Kai Sunabe is a 2028 SS/RHP with a 5-7 151 lb. frame from West Covina, CA who attends Walnut. Features a medium, compact build. Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. Primary infielder. Showcased developing footwork. Range profiles best for a corner spot for now. Hands can get stiff at times. Throws from a shorter arm action, reaching 73 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes an even base stance with a toe tap timing mechanism. Swings on a slight uphill path. Showed the ability to go the other way. Continuing to develop consistent timing should result in improved barrel accuracy. Right-handed pitcher. Uses a semi-windup delivery with drop and drive mechanics. Throws from a 3/4 slot. Will rush down the mound at times. Fastball sat 77-79 mph with armside run. Throws it for strikes often. Paired it with a slider at 69-72 mph with some tilt. Flashes quality bite on the pitch when thrown well. Still refining command of the offering. Excellent student. Named to the 14u California All-State Games Top Prospect List.
