2022 National Underclass West Showcase
Jack Abel is a 2024 3B/C with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Scotts Valley, CA who attends Scotts Valley. Recorded a 7.27 sixty-yard dash time. Medium, high waisted frame with long levers and plenty of room to fill out. Primary third baseman with anticipatory footwork into the fielding process, developing lateral range and a clean funnel out in front. Works with deliberate pace through the baseball, working into a longer arm action and recorded arm strength up to 77 mph across the diamond. Secondary catcher that receives from a higher, side-saddled stance with a round mid-line transfer and elongated footwork out of the crouch. Gains some ground towards his target and recorded arm strength up to 73 mph from behind the plate during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, open stance with a tight hand set, high back elbow and small hover trigger. Middle-of-the field approach with slightly upward swing path and some quickness to his launch. Simple, repeatable stroke with developing feel for the barrel. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
