Ty Mikkelsen is a 2024 SS/RHP, 2B, OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Grimes, IA who attends Dallas Center-Grimes Community. Medium size, compact athletic frame. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Middle infielder with fundamental footwork working around the baseball, efficient lateral movements and the ability to consistently get to a good fielding position, hands don't work through the ball but he catches everything clean, gathers feet and makes strong throws with accuracy across the infield. Ability to handle all infield positions. Hit from a wide base with toe tap timing at the plate. Casts hands and swings uphill some, shows some feel for the barrel with and quality extension through the ball at the plate. Showed four pitches on the mound out of a high three-quarter arm slot. Low 80's fastball that comes in on a deceptive level plane with ride thru the zone. Two distinct breaking balls in a 12-6 curve with that he uses off the fastball well and a slider with sharper horizontal break that is his best present off speed pitch. Developing feel with maintained arm speed on a change up. Threw a lot of quality strikes with all pitches and sequenced his stuff very well. Excellent Student. Named to Sunshine Midwest Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
