2021 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Joey Oakie is a 2024 RHP/MIF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny Centennial. Medium frame and lanky build with tons of room to fill and physical development left, has lots of length to him. Primary right-handed pitcher with a long arm action that gets offline in the back, shows advanced arm speed for his age. Simple and repeatable operation, really whips the arm through and flashes late arm side action to the fastball. Throws a sharp curveball with 11/5 shape, late breaking pitch with some bend to it. Changes speeds with the breaker and shows the ability to add and subtract velocity from the pitch. Also throws a nice changeup with fading action and a short cutter to complete the four-pitch mix. Impressive showing with advanced feel on the bump for his age. Right-handed hitter with an even base and high back elbow set. Longer swing path with present bat speed, shows good balance and extension. Stays directional during the operation and uses the whole field, solid round with good contact. Young prospect with exciting projection as he grows and fills out the frame. Great student. Named to the 2021 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
