Blake Johnson is a 2023 C/RHP/MIF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Fayette, AL who attends Fayette Co. Slender young athletic build with lots of room to get stronger. 7.54 runner in the sixty. Has quick actions behind the plate, very quick exchange and release on his throws, can still refine his footwork throwing the ball, makes accurate throws, plays defense with good energy, can also play the infield. Right handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance with a line drive swing plane and a high contact approach, keeps his timing simple and repeatable, has some barrel lag at times and will work the opposite way, raw bat speed will continue to improve with additional strength and physical maturity. Also pitched, high energy delivery with a short stride out front, still developing consistency in his arm timing and release slot. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, mostly straight. Curveball was his best pitch, was able to land it for strikes with 11/5 shape, also threw a change up. Good overall athlete who should continue to develop in all areas. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
