Will Sword is a 2022 RHP/C, SS with a 6-1 207 lb. frame from Cary, NC who attends Thales Academy. Recorded a 7.68-second sixty time. Large, long build with well-proportioned strength throughout his frame. Primary right-handed pitcher, quick athletic operation, using his entire frame to explode down the mound. High 3/4 arm slot, creating downhill action on his fastball with late-life through the zone. Works both sides of the plate well, worked his fastball in the mid-80's during his outing, topping out at 86 mph. Pairing his fastball with a tightly spun curveball that flashed 12-6 shape and depth. Secondary catcher, sets up with a low, side saddle stance. Quick, athletic actions getting out his crouch fast. Switches his feet as he gains some ground towards his target. Quick transfer, recorded a best pop time of 2.00-second. Clocked at 82 mph on his throws from behind the dish. Showcased himself well in multiple positions while taking reps in the outfield and infield. Up to 89 mph from the outfield and 88 at first base with smooth athletic actions throughout, showcasing his versatility. Right-handed hitter, even stance with a high-hand set and high back elbow. Present quickness to his hands, creating tons of bat speed. Compact stroke with advanced bat-to-ball skills, flashing power through the gaps. Excellent student. Named to 2021 Atlantic Coast Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List. Verbal commitment to Princeton.
