Dean West is a 2023 OF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Woodland Hills, CA who attends Notre Dame. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Strong runner, posted a 6.49 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, quick feet moving towards the ball and can cover ground in the gaps, gets the glove down quickly and fields the ball cleanly, fundamentally sound, quick transfer with a higher front side, arm comes through the backside well. Left-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; consistent and repeatable stroke with a linear path through the zone. Occasionally gets underneath the ball, has some jump to pull side and possesses fast hands, shows comfort turning on the ball. Good student. Verbal commitment to UCLA.
