Shane Kim is a 2019 RHP/3B with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Seoul, who attends Groton. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a side step to leg lift delivery. Stays tall with slight coil over back leg at gather. Hesitates slightly at balance point and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with plate and carries momentum well. Compact arm circle and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed some jump out of hand with sink and run to arm side in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with solid spin and late depth in the low 60's. Primarily worked ahead with fastball offering and utilized curveball as an out pitch late in counts. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing active footwork with clean glove actions. Flashed some range to each side with the ability to throw from multiple arm slot with accuracy, topped at 72 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and high back elbow set. Aggressively shifts into contact with lower half and barrel came through the zone on a lifted plane. Flashed good bat speed with the ability to turn barrel to contact. Ball jumped off the barrel well when squared generating solid carry between the gaps. Very good student as well.
