2020 Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase (Saturday)
Daniel Kanagy is a 2021 RHP/C, 1B with a 6-2 225 lb. frame from McAlisterville, PA who attends East Juniata. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a strong, well-built frame with present physical strength. Ran a 7.45 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins with a side step moving into balance point, simple and easy operation on the mound. Long and loose arm action through the back, some drop and drive in lower half mechanics towards the plate, does a nice job of creating extension out front. Fastball topped out at 85 mph, able to work to both sides of the plate and filled the zone. Slider shows 10-4 shape with hard bite and tilting action, will continue to develop a consistent feel for his changeup. Fields the ball out front at first base, similar long arm action on throws, moves well off the base and pivots well off the bag, accurate throws across the diamond. Righthanded hitter, simple operation in the box and incorporates strength well into swing. Generates nice bat speed through the zone, gets the barrel through easily and shows nice carry and jump off the barrel. Nice two-way potential. Excellent student. Named to the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Top Prospect List.
