Austin Nichols is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 6-2 230 lb. frame from Athens, AL who attends East Limestone HS. The two way player has a large frame with strength in his build. Below average runner. On the mound has a smooth delivery to the plate with easy effort, high leg lift, loose arm swing to a high 3/4 release point, short follow through and downhill plane. Good mix of pitches throughout the outing. Fastball up to 86mph that worked in all aspects of the strike zone. Curveball with 11/5 arc at 8 miles per hour has good depth and tight spin. Good arm speed on change up that fell off the table at 72mph. On the infield he gets to a good fielding position and works through the ball, fielded with good transfer and displayed a strong arm. At the plate he has an open stance, narrow and has high hands above the shoulder. Displayed strength at contact, worked up to the ball, has a middle and pull side approach at the plate. Great student. Named to Top Prospect List.
