Midwest Select Championships Scout Notes


The first game of pool play was a 1-0 pitcher’s duel between Braedon Malkow (2022, Brodhead, WI) and Ben Kasparie (2022, Quincy, IL). Malkow started on the bump for the GRB Rays Yellow, going a strong 4 innings with one hit and 8 strikeouts. The 6-foot-2 righty was sitting high 70's during his outing, topping out at 81 mph and throwing a 68 mph curveball. Kasparie earned the win for Complete Game Baseball in this tightly contested matchup, allowing no runs with 8 strikeouts and only 2 walks. He features a simple, repeatable motion and a mid 70's fastball that he can locate all over the zone.
